It's been interesting to watch the development of New Zealand made drum & bass music - our earliest efforts were chilled out cinematic breaks from artists like 50Hz and Short Fuse, but of late it has been the darker dancefloor flavours that have been taking over (witness the worldwide success of underground acts like Concord Dawn and Bulletproof). Emerging on their own Tardus Music label under the wing of Kog Transmissions, Auckland production pair Paradigm are the latest to step to the plate with a hard hitting batch of technical tracks aimed at the dancefloor domain, and thisdebut full length is surely a sign of more great things to come. With its booming basslines and blistering breaks this sonic stew is bound to be attracting more international attention to our burgeoning drum & bass scene, and Paradigm are certainly another fine bunch of flag bearers for this new and developing Aotearoa sound.
