One of the hottest new acts to have blown up in Aotearoa in 2002, Auckland youngsters Nesian Mystik have captured the nation's ear with an uplifting urban sound that's the freshest new Polyfusion flavour since OMC's worldwide chart-topping efforts. Following a couple of catchy hit singles, the five-piece group have come up with a varied and very good debut album. Capturing a range of chart-friendly club sounds, there's a number of great new upbeat numbers on offer, the odd slinky slow jam, some smooth garage styles a la Craig David and even a lick of reggae somewhere in the mix. Nesian Mystic's own rapid fire raps and syrupy vocal harmonies are joined on a couple of tracks by homegrown hip-hop contemporaries Che Fu and Tyna Keelan from Dubious Bros, but the Mystiks more than hold their own on this cool and confident album that's bound to spend plenty of time at the top of the charts.
