Another excellent compilation from Brat Records, covering the cream of musical talent in and around the Christchurch area. The story goes 65 acts applied to be included on this compilation, wittled down to 13 of the best for this set. Covering all music forms, from the downbeat/dub/ska sounds of Salmonella Dub, Otautahi Allstars and 4 Man Bob, the contemporary pop of Mea, Filer and Slipstream, the jungle jazz of O.G, the more traditional pop/rock approach of Fuce, Slim, Solobravo, 'Orkid and The Stefan Van Soest Hit Machine, through to some bitchin' nu-metal from Cripple Mr Onion, these are all quality bands, and further proof that the Christchurch music scene is alive and well. For those with a varied musical palate and an interest in new music or bands coming out of New Zealand, this excellent compilation is an essential purchase. And a great price too. Recommended.
