Like an injection of adrenaline direct to the heart of New Zealand classical music comes a new album of chamber music by dynamic composer, John Psathas. The music of John Psathas is unique and distinctive. His 'sound' is difficult to define the harmony and improvisational feel of jazz, the compelling rhythmic drive and excitement of rock music and the sustained repetitive textures of minimalism are apparent as influences, yet they combine and mingle with something else less tangible.

The performers are English pianist Stephen Gosling, percussionist Jeremy Fitzsimons and the New Zealand String Quartet. This CD is highly recommended.
