Following their superb debut, the 'Holy Roller Novocaine' EP, the brotherly Kings Of Leon drop their first full length album, the impossibly titled 'Youth & Young Manhood'. To the Southern United States (Memphis side) what the Strokes are to New York (indeed they were grabbed by the same inspired A&R guy), this young band play a deliciously authentic and exciting blend of new (The Strokes, The White Stripes) and old ('Exile On Main Street' era Rolling Stones, Creedence Clearwater Revival style "choogle") with a punch, youthful urgency and soulful venom that is just impossible to resist. Ably produced by Ryan Adams' pal Ethan Johns, this is a great contemporary Southern rock record. Recommended.
