Recorded in 1979, the first and most successful of the reggae albums (the second was 1981's 'Mauvaises Nouvelles des Etoiles') this French legend recorded in the famed Nassau Compass Point Studio, 'Aux Armes Et Caetera' found Gainsbourg teaming up with the impeccable rhythm duo of Sly & Robbie and famed reggae vocal trio the I-Threes (featuring Rita Marley, Marcia Griffiths and Judy Mowatt). Combining Sly & Robbie's trademark rhythms, perfected with the likes of Black Uhuru and Grace Jones, the sublime harmony backing of the I-Threes and the unique vocal/lyrical style of Gainsbourg, the two reggae based albums are an intriguing addition to this enigmatic and uncompromising performer's legendary body of work. With these albums previously unavailable, they are now reissued in an expanded form containing both the "original" album version plus an extra disc of dub and DJ versions.
