One of the most respected and talented DJ/Producers in Drum & Bass, J.Majik began his career with Goldies Metalheadz imprint, and soon established his own Infared label as an outlet for quality D&B. Since those early days he has grown in stature to become one of the scenes leading players with countless releases and a distinctive disco influenced sound, not disco as in the wailing vocal variety, but huge grooves of sound guaranteed to move any floor. With the latest volume of their live mixed CD series, super club Fabric show once again their continually open minded attitude to music and deliver another essential document from one of their legendary nights. J.Majiks own Me Lever begins proceeding with a bang before cuts from NZs own Tali (High Hopes) and DJ Hazard (Enuff Iz Enuff) switch things into overdrive with floor shaking and slamming rhythm. Further in we are treated to Total Science & Barons weird and rolling Monkey See, Monkey Do, Marcus Intalex & Markys summer anthem Back To Love and Wickermans riff heavy Hustler - J.Majik blending the rough and the smooth to devastating effect. Finally cuts from Clipz, the Bristol banger Cuban Links, Twisted Individuals nasty Bandwagon Blues and Calibres sublime remix of Badmarsh & Shris Signs give the mix a diversity and flow few DJs could match, providing funk, jazz and darkness in equal measures. Few Drum & Bass albums make this sort impact on you, and Fabric continue to employ only the finest talent for this series - fans of Drum & Bass probably know what to expect, but fans of dance music in general should check what might just be a contender for mix album of the year.
