Album number two from this snappy Isle Of Wight outfit sees them embracing the r&b-pop sound of the sixties (The Who, Small Faces, Yardbirds, etc) with alarming fervour, and fortunately considerable skill. Actually normally I don't go for this revivalist inspired stuff - don't get me wrong I appreciate historical context in contemporary pop music - but these guys really do swing. Fuelled by irresistable hammond organ and horns, and with a set of highly energetic yet polished pop gems, this six piece have delivered an album of supreme charm that after a quick few listens delves deep under your skin with soulful exuberance. Already being ranked by the UK press alongside the marvellous (and only) record by The La's a few years back (if that means anything to you grab this baby now you will not be disappointed). Clever bastards. Recommended.
