There is little argument that Pavement were one of the best alternative outfits of the '90s, whether it be the ouststanding 'Slanted & Enchanted' (also available as a deluxe edition), or this equally brilliant follow-up 'Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain', Stephen Malkmus' band of merry men took the indie world to the mainstream with extreme style and integrity, in the process influencing a slew of today's music makers. This deluxe version of 'Crooked Rain' now comes as a 2 CD, 49 track set, containing the original stunning album (now remastered to further sonic glory), a superb 40 page booklet (packed with lyrics, photo's, stories, etc), plus a further 25 unreleased recordings (B-sides, compilation tracks, rarities, outtakes and Peel sessions) including 11 "never-heard-before" songs. Any fan of this great band should be drooling right now (and rightly so I say) because this essential piece of indie history just got even more damn essential. For those of you who have never experienced Pavement, yet have a leaning towards things indie and alternative, now is the time to fix that gaping hole in your collection (and while your there grab the equally essential 'Slanted' as well!). Highly recommended.
