If you need further evidence of this, have a gander at the "Natures Best" Series, NZ's top 100 songs as voted by APRA member; No less than 10 are Dobbyn compositions (whether solo or with his previous bands Th' Dudes and DD Smash), and 5 of them are in the top 30! It's safe to say no other songwriter in the country has such universal respect and Mana of public and peers than this man. On his Latest album "Available Light", Dobbo teams up with award winning Producer and ex-Muttonbird David Long and Wellington's own mixing wizard Lee Prebble. The result is a rich and textured journey, contemporary but undeniably Dobbyn and every bit as worthy of the "classic" tag as any of his previous efforts. Dave's songs are fleshed out by Drummer Ross Burge (Muttonbirds) and Bassist Bones Hillman (Midnight Oil and The Swingers) as well as guest appearances from many other familiar names and voices; Bic Runga and Neil Finn (who Produced first single "Welcome Home") and Warryn Maxwell (Trinity Roots and Fat Freddy's) are just a few who lend there talents on "Available Light".
