Before becoming the first (and so far, only) Flying Nun band to score a number one, The Headless Chickens were known as Children's Hour - A dark and brooding post-punk/pre-goth outfit ala Joy Division and The Birthday Party.
Up until now all that was available from this band was a 12" EP (Flesh) and a 7" (Ya Ya Ya) which came out on Flying Nun in the mid eighties, and have long been out of print.
"Looking For The Sun" is a document of the bands intense live show from this period. Recorded between 1983 and '84, it shows how ahead of their time Children's Hour were and how relevent this music is today (bands like Interpol borrowing from this era wholesale).
Extensive liner notes by Frontman Chris Matthews give a very personal insight into the songs, many of which are previously unreleased or available on CD for the first time.
To celebrate the albums release and the life of friend and bassist Johnny Pierce, who tragically committed suicide in 1986, the band are performing a few shows for the first time in 21 years as Children's Hour.
Includes a fantastic live version of their student radio hit "Carolines Dream", The video clip for which can be seen on Flying Nun's "Very Short Films" DVD. (CD-R)
