Highly anticipated by fans of the band, and made more so when the release of the album was delayed after the original masters were stolen in 2005 (from a laptop carried by singer/songwriter Lawrence Arabia, while he was in the USA as part of fellow Lil Chief Records band The Brunettes touring party).
Unfazed by this catastrophic turn of events, the band - Arabia, Ben Eldridge (Heavy Jones Trio), Ryan McPhun (The Ruby Suns) and Jol Mulholland (Gasoline Cowboy) reconvened and re-recorded the album, and now deliver a classic collection of pop songs that should cement their place as one of New Zealand's premier bands.
Like the aforementioned Brunettes, The Reduction Agents are keen students of the 60s. But unlike their label-mates, The Reduction Agents avoid bubblegum pop sounds in favour of a more classic 60s pop song sound. The Beach Boys are invoked with the sweet harmonies of "Freeways", a laconic John Lennon on the epic "Waiting for your Love", and Paul McCartney at his story-telling best on "The Pool". A great album for lovers of great pop songs. Highly Recommended.
