If there was ever any doubt that this lady is one of best songwriters this country has ever produced, this album will put it to rest. 'In Swings The Tide' is Anika Moa's most accomplished effort yet and announces her arrival as a fully-matured writer and arranger.
'In Swings The Tide' is more upbeat and optimistic than 2005's very personal (but still very good) 'Stolen Hill', with a bit of country tinge here and there which lightens the mood even more. 'You're The Light' is a stand-out, with it's sublime string arrangement and backing vocals from Anna Coddington (Duchess) – a sure fire hit if we've ever heard one!
Recorded at home and produced by Moa herself, what started out as a demo-recording session, soon blossomed into a full-blown album. The singer-songwriter sums 'In Swings The Tide' up best herself; "This third album is a more mature and more developed me. It's the best one yet. I say that without being modest. It's the best album I have ever done". What better recommendation can you get?
