Following up the runaway success of 2002's SONGS ABOUT JANE, Maroon 5 unveiled this (mostly)
acoustic EP in 2004 to tide fans over until the group's next full-length album. With the exception of a
loose, live rendition of AC/DC's "Highway to Hell," this set is unplugged, allowing the spotlight to shine on
frontman Adam Levine's emotive vocals. The remarkably catchy hit single "This Love" opens the disc,
followed by the jazzy, piano-driven "Sunday Morning" and the pensive, percussion-laden "She Will Be
Loved." The standout song here, however, is a beautifully spare rendition of the Beatles' "If I Fell," a
thoughtful selection that perfectly complements Maroon 5's bittersweet love songs. |
