Dark Was The Night is the latest compilation in the famous Red Hot series celebrating their 20th year!
The compilation comprises 31 new & exclusive tracks on 2CD & 3LP, and will benefit the Red Hot Organization an international charity dedicated to raising funds & awareness for HIV & AIDS.
Red Hot was founded on the premise that even without a cure, AIDS remains a preventable disease and music is a great vehicle to raise money & awareness for it.
Tracks include covers of songs made famous by the likes of Bob Dylan, Nick Drake, Vashti Bunyan, Shuggie Otis, Nina Simone & more; while artists also bring new original material as well as inspired one-off collaborations from Gillian Welch & Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes); Antony (& The Johnsons) & Bryce Dessner (The National); Jose Gonzalez & The Books; and Dirty Projectors & David Byrne.
Artists who perform include Bon Iver, The National, Feist, Antony, Iron & Wine, Sufjan Stevens, Spoon, Arcade Fire, Beirut, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Dave Sitek (TV On The Radio), Cat Power & more!
Dark Was The Night is curated & produced by Aaron & Bryce Dessner of The National. John Carlin, the founder of the Red Hot Organization, is the executive producer.
