Now firmly based back in their hometown of Wellington, these laidback Kiwi Alt-country pioneers release their second full-length album. 'The Jingle King' is a beautiful, multi-layered listen jam-packed with instantly hum-able melodies. The band's strong songwriting and excellent musicianship has always been present but this record, the really shine through. A classy release.
On a recent tour of their beloved country, the hand of fate saw the surviving members of renowned moderately-paced rock band Cassette pause for a moment's rest on the road to ruin outside a quaint little 2nd Hand shop, somewhere in small town NZ. What they found inside would change their lives, & that of the band, forever...
At the back of the shop, sitting like a colossus amongst the 2nd-hand school jerseys & assorted bric-a-brac, with axe in hand & a handsome woman at his feet, sat the fourth member of the band, The Jingle King.
The men of Cassette immediately negotiated his release from the store & upon liberation, The Jingle King joined the band for the rest of the tour, bringing a new emotional weight to their sound, leaving audiences tear-stricken & dancing on their knees. The Jingle King then joined them in the studio for final mixing of their latest album, which, with awe & appreciation, the band named after their new friend, their fifth Beatle, The Jingle King. |
